The consolidated position of the State level Public Sector Enterprises (SLPEs), as on 31st march 1997 and 31st Mach 2000 was as under:

A number of States have also started making privatisation / disinvestment / restructuring of State PSEs as a fundamental part of their economic reforms. Many of these have also set up State level Disinvestment Commissions.
